Trying to come back from a lot of tragedy and loss... Yesterday we had Oliver’s (our nephew) 9th birthday party here at our home. He and his four brothers and sisters lost their father on October 18th in a tragic car accident. And my husband @bekartphotography spent most of October in doctor’s offices, and in the hospital. And now we are all looking to forge a way forward. And I can see that in Oliver’s face. Surrounded by a family that loves him, and soaking that up, with his favorite Angel Food cake. And in this picture is my husband, Ben, able to participate and take pictures and be there for everyone. My rock. My true love. It’s a #newbeginning for our family. A time of #truegratitude and a time to #seizetheday

Somehow seeing the beautiful squashes ripen and their colors deepen feels like a metaphor for watching the time and love and energy I’ve invested in changing my life finally ripen into something I recognize as #authenticallyme .

Tomorrow @honeybook and @risingtidesociety announce their #20ontherise and I wanted to post this BEFORE I find out if I have made the list. Just having been nominated, just knowing that I’m becoming known for doing something I love, it’s so rewarding. And it helps give me the courage to keep curating my life. To harvest the best fruits of my life up to this point, and to keep letting go of the past, to keep letting go of the things that still have their roots in expectations from a life that no longer serves me. .
